The actor has a new sleek appearance due to chopping off his always-long hair, which came as quite a surprise to Outsiders devotees.
Gallner played one of the most memorable members of the Farrell family on the drama series, which was cancelled despite being one of WGN’s most popular shows. The program centered on the Farrell family, who lived away from civilization in the Appalachian mountains.
Upon seeing Gallner’s suprising transformation, many fans reached out with questions and gratitude for his time on Outsiders.

“I learn lessons all the time,” he said. “You also have to find the part of yourself that relates to the character. I put myself in there too.”
Gallner’s love of the character and show have been apparent throughout his involvement. He was especially fond of the show’s “grey area” and how it makes it tough to root against the family or their aggressors.
“I think that’s really what is so great about the show,” he said in a previous interview. “I can totally understand why the town is upset and want the Farrells gone, and I can also side with the Farrells and their fight to keep their home.”
Emotional aspects of the role aside, some followers had a question about a physical aspect of the show: Hasil’s kilt.

Outsiders was cancelled due to a production issue with WGN, which is currently being shopped to perspective buyers. Producers tried to save the series by finding a new home for the Farrell clan, but they ran out of time.
“In terms of a new home [for the series, that was] very difficult because the actor’s contracts came up for renewal, but without a new home in place, those contracts could not be renewed without serious financial exposure by Sony,” said Peter Tolan, the series’ executive producer. “So it was business and timing that did us in.”
