Over the summer, executive producer Lorne Michaels made the choice to cast 58-year-old Alec Baldwin in the part of Donald Trump. Baldwin signed on earlier this week and filmed a promo segment that hit social media on Wednesday.
Alec Baldwin has a long history with SNL as he has guest-hosted the show a record-setting 16 times. He first debuted on the comedy sketch series in 1990, and since then has performed more than a dozen celebriting impressions such as Marlon Brando, Tony Bennett, Harvey Fierstein, Bono, and Al Pacino.
This isn’t even the first time Baldwin has taken on the role of a Republican presidential candidate. In 2011, Baldwin played Texas Governor Rick Perry in a cold-open bit that poked fun at the GOP debates.
