The Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley, first rose to fame in the ’90s on the comedy sitcom Full House. Netflix recently revamped the show under the title Fuller House, but the Olsen twins have made no plans on returning home to the series with the rest of the cast any time soon.
Jodie Sweetin, who portrays the Olsens’ onscreen sister Stephanie Tanner, dropped this disappointing news when talking to Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of Kubo and the Two Strings in Los Angeles on Sunday.

“We’ve tried everything,” Sweetin explained. “I think we’ve kinda given up,” she added.
While the Olsens may not be making an appearance on the show, Sweetin promises that there will be other exciting stars in the second season of the reboot series. “We have a lot,” she told ET. “A lot of people that have been talked about for like 30 years are going to be on the show. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Fuller House stars Candace Cameron-Bure, Andrea Barber, and Sweetin with the original costars such as Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin, John Stamos, and Dave Coulier making guest appearances. The showrunners decided to explain the absence of Michelle (the character the Olsens portrayed) in the first episode. “Well, Michelle sends her love, but she’s busy in New York running her fashion empire,” explained Danny Tanner (Saget), the TV dad for the twins.
John Stamos stated he was the one who came up with the idea. “It was my idea,” Stamos (Uncle Jesse) told PEOPLE. “I thought, let’s just be simple and look at the camera. And it’s not a diss by any means. I just thought it was funny to go, ‘We get it, too.’”
In January, Stamos also defended the Olsens in an interview with Howard Stern. “They seemed very into [Fuller House]; they just were afraid of acting. They hadn’t acted; they don’t consider themselves actresses.”
The twins may not have any plans on returning, but creator Jeff Franklin stated at the Television Critic’s Association that the “door is always open and I hope it happens.”
Do you hope Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen make an appearance on Fuller House?
