Delusional underdog, James Ellsworth, is looking to become the WWE champion and go 4-0 against the champ that runs the camp tonight on WWE Smackdown LIVE. The Wyatts will defend their tag team championships for the first time and the world awaits another appearance by the Deadman.
Here are the 5 things we NEED to see on tonight's Smackdown LIVE.
After losing her Women's championship cleanly to Alexa Bliss at WWE TLC, it's time to unleash a more vicious and focused version of Becky Lynch than the wisecracking, happy go lucky version we've become accustomed to. With Sasha and Charlotte continuing to light Monday nights on fire, the women of Smackdown have a high bar to reach. Alexa holding the belt should certainly keep pushing things in the right direction.
The showstealer has had his momentum stolen out from under him time and time again. Going back two years to when he was the sole survivor on John Cena's team to defeat the authority, it seems that every time Dolph Ziggler's career begins to shoot through the ceiling, a larger ceiling stops him in his tracks.
It's time for the "I'm gonna try real hard and do my best" version of Dolph to go by the wayside. Let the losses fuel Dolph to change his ways and win "by any means necessary!"
For the first time in his 4 year career, Bray Wyatt has a championship belt around his waist. It's being rumored that like The New Day, the Wyatts will be able to defend the championships under "Freebird Rules."
If true, Luke Harper and Randy Orton having to co-exist as partners should do wonders to further the storyline towards it's eventual end point. During their rematch with Heath Slater and Rhyno, however, their should be no frays in the cloth. The Wyatts can continue to boost their credibility by showing themselves to be an even more dominant force than they were on Sunday.
Oh, what to do with James Ellsworth! We were surprised to see the WWE give away his motive for betryaing Dean Ambrose right after WWE TLC, but another swerve could be right around the corner.
A slimy villain like Ellsworth is going to need to muscle to fight his battles for him. Will that be AJ Styles or possibly another SD Live star? Could we see another version of the fingerpoke of doom to reveal that James isn't as delusional as we thought? Ellsworth laying down for Styles would be the ultimate spit in the face for James' former ally, Dean Ambrose.
The longer they can build up Ambrose getting his revenge on James, the better.
As we reported yesterday, the Undertaker is near by. If all of the rumors of a program beginning between Taker and AJ are true, let it begin tonight! After AJ limps out of his match with James Ellsworth gloating that he has no more competition, we want to see the lights go out and hear that gong. If Smackdown goes off the air with a frightened AJ Styles clutching his belt, we'll know the road to Wrestlemania has begun!
