WARNING: Major Spoilers ahead for the latest season of Orange is the New Black. Read at your own risk.
Instead of the typical drama surrounding the women of Litchfield, this new installment focused on a three-day inmate riot. The stakes were much higher than every before, and the action seemed to be never-ending.
13 episodes later, when it was all said and done, viewers were left with even more questions than they had when the began the season.
Season five ended with the SWAT team taking back the prison. Many of the inmates were taken away, but ten remained in their pool bunker.
Piper, Alex, Red, Suzanna, Nicki, Taystee, Gloria, Cindy, Biance, and Frieda all stood their ground, and they were met with gas bombs at the finale's conclusion.
As we've seen over the last couple of years, the officers on this SWAT team haven't received the best training. And, with the standoff lasting as long as it did, it wouldn't be surprising if one or two of them fired some shots into the pool.
It may not be something you want to think about, but there's a chance at least one of these women doesn't make it out of Litchfield alive.prevnext
Will Alex & Piper Actually Get Married?
The most touching moment of the season came when Piper and Alex admitted their true feelings for each other. Piper decided that they had messed around enough, and it was time to get serious.
With that, she marched back to Alex, got on one knee and proposed. As you can imagine, Alex agreed.
These two have been on and off since the very first season OITNB, and their woes certainly aren't over now that they're engaged. Viewers are left wondering if their history will once again get in the way, and keep the couple from actually making it to the altar.
There's also the bunker scene to think about. Is there a chance that Alex could be killed during the raid?
Let's hope not.prevnext
What's Next For The Prison?
By the end of season five, Litchfield is in a state of array. The SWAT team has raided the prison, making it likely that the establishment will never be the same.
With all of the destruction that has bestowed Litchfield, the chances of the prison being shut down permanently are pretty high.
If this is the case, and the inmates are transferred elsewhere, a whole new set of questions could arise. Could they get sent somewhere temporary? Will the new prison be worse than Litchfield? Could the women get split up?
Let's say that Litchfield doesn't close, and the inmates get to stick around for the rest of their sentences. If that's the case, there are probably some changes on the way. Caputo, along with his guards, didn't handle the events leading up to the riot very well at all. Their firings are all-but inevitable.0comments
