This Sunday’s upcoming episode of Game of Thrones is setting a new record for the HBO franchise. “The Spoils of War” clocks in as the shortest episode in the history of the drama.

The fourth installment of the current seventh season has an official running time of 50 minutes. The episode sets a brevity record by about a minute for the series as a whole, according to EW.

As for the first three episodes of the season, each lasted around an hour or even a few minutes over. For those who feel like they’re being cheated of ten minutes from the typically hour-long program, next week’s episode is set to return to the 59-minute runtime.

While Season 7 may have the shortest episode, it also will feature the longest episode ever in the show’s history as well.

“One [episode] will be our longest episode ever โ€” it’s coming in around 90 minutes,” showrunner David Benioff said before Season 7 began. “Another is going to be our shortest episode at 50 minutes.”

The prior longest episode in the drama was the Season 6 finale, “The Winds of Winter,” which had a runtime of 69 minutes.

HBO Unveils First Look at ‘The Spoils of War’

WARNING: Spoilers ahead for the latest episode of Game of Thrones. Read ahead at your own risk…

This Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones could prove to be the calm before the storm with a brewing war on the horizon.

HBO has unleashed a look at the first photos fromย “The Spoils of War,” and all of the key players can be seen plotting their next moves.

One ominous photo shows Queenย Cersei standing over that enormous map. However, it’s nowhere near as worrisome as the photo of Sansaย Stark. One would have thought that she might have been a little happier after being reunited with one of her family members.

Daenerys has her closest allies on either side of her in one snap, but she seems concerned while in the middle of a tense conversation or possibly receiving bad news. It’s clear that she knows she’s facing the home stretch in the battle for Westerosย but there are still serious challenges to overcome.

Unfortunately, based on one of the other pics, it appears as if Kit Harington’sย Jon Snow is already leaving Dragonstone.

Check out all ten of the new photos here.

While Jon and Dany didn’t exactly get along swimmingly in their first meeting, one GOT star thinks it went as well as can be expected.

‘Game of Thrones’ Star Weighs In On Jon and Dany’s First Meeting

In episode three of Season 7, theย Game of Thrones fans were finally given what they’ve been asking for โ€” Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen in the same room.

While the interaction between the two leaders wasn’t exactly the most cordial exchange, Conlethย Hill, who portrays Lord Varysย on the series,ย thinks that it could have been much worse.ย

During a conversation withย Variety, Hill revealed that Jon and Dany handled themselves much better than some may have expected.

“They’re both headstrong kids,” he said. “They’ve been the leader of their own pack for so long, and there’s, of course, a history of bad blood between their families. But they managed not to kill each other.”

Hill continued by adding that there was one particular detail that kept all the tempers from raging.

“It was ice and fire really. I think Tyrion’s temperature control helped a lot. I don’t think it went as badly as it could have. Had their character’s met earlier, they might have pulled a knife or had a fight. I think they’re just getting to the stage now where the future of the world is more important than any ego trip they might have had,” he said.

The interaction between Jon and Danyย didn’t necessarily hint at the two having a relationship, but there is a possible romance brewing between two other main characters.

‘Game of Thrones’ Star Teases a Relationship Between Tormund and Brienne

For theย Game of Thrones fansย hoping thatย Brienne of Tarth and Tormund Giantsbaneย might become an item, your dreams may be coming true this season.

There has been a ton of tension brewing between the two fan-favorite characters ever since their first on-screen meeting. Many have hoped it would lead to a relationship at some point. Whileย Tormund was clearly infatuated with Brienne, she seemed much more reluctant to get romantically involved. Only a fewย episodes into Season 7, it appears as ifย Brienne may be warming up to Tormund’s efforts.

During the Game of Thrones panel at San Diego Comic-Con, host Kristian Nairn (Hodor) asked Gwendoline Christie whether or not Brienne was enjoying Tormund’s advances. Christie answered by saying that her character enjoys the power dynamic that it brings.

Later in the panel, one fan approached the mic and addressed Christie, asking if Brienne what Tormund would have to do to “Get in her chainmail.”

After laughing at the humorous phrase, Christie suggested that there could possibly be a future for the two characters saying that they “had a mutual respect.”

Hopefully, as the rest of the season unfolds, we’ll get to see some more interaction between the two warriors.

Be sure to tune into Game of Thronesย this Sunday at 9/8c on HBO.
