Fan of the FX series American Crime Story might have a long wait for the Katrina season, as the season's director was quoted as saying that it has "stalled."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Hemingway told journalists, "That just kind of got stalled. We're all standing by waiting to find out what's happening."

He then added, "We're all standing by waiting to find out what's happening."

When pressed for if the season will happen at all, Hemingway said, "Who knows? It's all up to Ryan Murphy."

Katrina has been scheduled to be the focus of the third season of American Crime Story.

Season one of American Crime Story focused on the famous trial of O.J. Simpson who was charged with murder. That season was met with wide critical acclaim and on multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards.

Season two is titled American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace, and is described as "exploring the murder of designer Gianni Versace by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, based on Maureen Orth's book Vulgar Favors: Andrew Cunanan, Gianni Versace, and the Largest Failed Manhunt in U.S. History."

Hemingway later added, "I just think that was [what was] at play. It was the bird-in-hand syndrome. [Versace] needed a lot of attention, so I think he just made the decision to do that. Instead of do what was intended, which was doing them parallel at the same time, he chose to do them one at a time."

Finally, Hemingway was asked about whether this will affect his involvement in the series, to which he replied, "It's all on timing," he says. "If the timing works out, great. If not, you got to sometimes unfortunately miss out on things. There's so much greatness going on — you want to do it all, but you can't."

In American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace Penélope Cruz will be playing Donatella Versace, the sister of Gianni Versace, and Ricky Martin will be playing Antonio D'Amico, Gianni Versace's partner.

The series also stars Édgar Ramírez as Gianni Versace, Darren Criss as Andrew Cunanan, Max Greenfield as Santo Versace, Annaleigh Ashford as Elizabeth Cote, Nico Evers-Swindell as Phil Cote, and Finn Wittrock as Jeffrey Trail.

No word as of yet on when the new season will air, but it is currently being filmed.
