Created by Nic Broca, the series ran for four seasons from 1984 to 1989, with the first two seasons on NBC, while Seasons 3 and 4 were in syndication. The Hanna-Barbera series centered on The Snorks, a tribe of small, colorful anthropomorphic sea creatures that live in the fictional Mediterranean undersea world of Snorkland. According to the new website, Dodo Reanimation Lab BV is bringing back The Snorks.
“With great respect for the nostalgia and recognizability of the original series, we’re creating a refreshed version that perfectly suits today’s children,” reads the statement. “We invite viewers to dive into Snorkelland: an enchanting underwater world full of humor, adventure, and friendship. At the same time, we connect with modern themes such as teamwork, diversity, and caring for our stewardship. In doing so, we combine the best of the past with the relevance of today. The Snorks are returning: brighter, bolder, and more relevant than ever. A new generation of kids will discover their magic, while their parents get to relive the joy and wonder of their own childhoods, all at the same time.”
The new series, Snorkels, is seemingly available on MojiTV’s YouTube channel with a playlist of 20 episodes, but as of now, the videos are hidden. It’s unknown when the episodes will be available, but it seems like fans will be able to look forward to much more adventures with The Snorks in the near future. As of now, Snorks is not streaming anywhere, so when Snorkels is eventually available, that will be the only way to see The Snorks.
The original voice cast for Snorks included Michael Bell, Brian Cummings, B.J. Ward, Nancy Cartwright, Barry Gordon, Frank Welker, and Rob Paulsen. Whether or not any of them are returning for Snorkels remains to be seen, but you never know what could happen. In the meantime, fans will just have to wait and see what happens with the new series. More information will likely be released soon in regards to when the episodes will be released, but if it’s anything like the original, the wait will be worth it.
