A Michigan woman was convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting death of her husband, a crime that was apparently witnessed by the man’s pet parrot.

Glenna Durham was found guilty of killing her husband, Martin, in May 2015, Fox 17 reports. She was accused of shooting Martin five times before attempting to commit suicide.

Martin’s ex-wife, Christina Keller, said that after the murder, the couple’s pet parrot, Bud, kept repeating”don’t (expletive) shoot” in Martin’s voice, Fox 32 reports. Keller became Bud’s new owner after Martin’s death.

“I feel hurt that both families had to go through this, ’cause we both used to be close and go camping together,” said Lillian Duram, Martin’s mother. “It just isn’t good; just isn’t good. Two years is a long time to wait for justice.”
Durham will be sentenced on Aug. 28.
