St. Maarten has already felt the initial impact of Hurricane Irma, and the results are devastating.

Several have started sharing photos from the flooding in the streets of the island, as well as the property that's being destroyed.
As you can see below, the water is already rushing through the streets and alleyways, taking cars, trees, and light poles with it.
There are also several structures that have suffered significant damage in the storm's wake.

A Terrifying Sight
Many have been tracking Irma for a few days, plotting out its dangerous path. Now that it's finally arriving, some people are having their worst fears realized.

In another set of pictures, some residents of the Caribbean are watching as the horrifying skies are approaching their homes.
The dark red skies depicted here are frightening, and it's evident that nothing but danger is on the way.

Florida Evacuation
With Irma bearing down on Florida, Governor Rick Scott has issued a state of emergency to his citizens.
The storm isn't expected to hit the state until the weekend, but there are no chances being taken. The Florida Keys are already being evacuated at this time.
In the photo below, you can see the massive amount of people trying to get to safety before Irma reaches the U.S.
