Chick-fil-A is officially dropping its chicken salad sandwich from menus nationwide, completely discontinuing its Chicken Salad Sandwich on Sept. 30, Today reports.

“The decision to remove Chicken Salad from the menu was a difficult one,” Chick-fil-A wrote in a statement. “We know that many of our customers loved our Chicken Salad, but we have also heard from guests that they are looking for new tastes and fresh flavors on the menu in our restaurants.”

While the news was originally announced on Facebook back in June, fans are taking to Twitter to express their dismay over the loss of the offering.
Chick-fil-a discontinuing the chicken salad. Let me call and check on my grandaddy, bless his heart.

Seriously, @ChickfilA dropping the chicken salad sandwich was a major betrayal. Right up there with Judas, Brutus, and Anakin Skywalker.

The Chicken Salad Sandwich, while a rarity among fast food chains, clocks in at 500 calories and 21 grams of fat. While it’s unclear from the chain’s statement whether “new tastes” was code for different or healthier taste, the sandwich has unfortunately taken the brunt of the fast food market’s changing tide.
While the sandwich may be leaving Chick-fil-A, fans can still get their chicken salad fix with a Chick-fil-A-approved copycat recipe linked in the original announcement.
