NFL Wide Receiver Chris Olave Arrested

Chris Olave's arrest happened in Kenner, Louisiana.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was arrested in Kenner, Louisiana on Monday night on suspicion of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, according to ESPN. Police said Olave was driving 70 mph in a 35 mph zone in a "mixed business/residential area." Olave was driving a Dodge Charger that was "observed traveling at a high rate of speed, recklessly maneuvering between lanes and around other drivers on the roadway," police said.

Olave's brother Josh went to social media and said "Bro was on the way back to the crib from CVS... aint nun serious" per TMZ Sports. Olave was booked into the Kenner jail Monday night and was released at 11:30 p.m. local time. The Saints said they were aware of the situation but had no comment.

Olave, 23, was selected by the Saints No. 11 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. He had a big rookie season, catching 72 passes for 1,042 years and four touchdowns in 15 games and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team. This season, Olave has caught 39 passes for 471 yards and one touchdown in seven games.

During the summer, Olave appeared on Richard Sherman's podcast and was asked about working with Saints quarterback Derek Carr. "Oh hell yeah, we've been brewing, we've been cooking up. I feel like it's just getting better and better. Just being on the field together, getting consistent," Olave said, per USA Today. "That's how everybody builds chemistry just getting those reps, continuous repetition."

Olave also talked about how much Carr has helped him during the offseason. "I feel like we all know what he can do on the field but he helps me a lot off the field too, just a leader he is," Olave reflected. "Just his vibes he comes with, I feel like always makes a young player better. So I'm excited to play with him."

Before joining the Saints, Olave played college football at Ohio State where he was a two-time All-Big Ten First Team selection. He played in 47 games for the Buckeyes and caught 176 passes for 2,711 yards and 35 touchdowns. Olave's 35 touchdowns set an Ohio State program record and ranks fourth in Big Ten Conference history.
