Kansas City Chiefs Player Justyn Ross Arrested

Justyn Ross was arrested in Kansas on a felony criminal charge.

Justyn Ross, wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, was arrested on Monday for a felony charge of criminal damage of more than $25,000, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office booking and release report (per CBS Sports). Ross was booked Monday afternoon after being arrested in Shawnee, Kansas. According to ESPN, no bond was set at the time, and the Chiefs said they were aware of the arrest but had no comment.

Ross, 23, signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent. He missed the entire 2022 season after being placed on injured reserve due to foot surgery. This season, Ross has played in seven games and caught three passes for 34 yards.

Earlier this year, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave a lot of praise to Ross. "Yeah, I mean, the talent is through the roof," Mahomes said, per USA Today. "I think anyone can see that. He's getting better and better. Even though he wasn't active all year he was in the building and he was able to see the guys and how we do things. Listening and being in the meetings and some of the stuff like that. I'm excited for him, man. To be able to get out there and get the reps in practice, get the little fine details that we like to do in this offense."

Mahomes went on to say that Ross is doing everything he can to be a key player this season. "He works his tail off," Mahomes stated. "I'm like, 'Man you've got to ease up a little bit.' He wants to run like every route 100 times. You'd rather have to ease up on the guy or have him ease up on himself. You know he wants to work and be the best player that he can possibly be."

Ross played college football at Clemson and caught 158 passes for 2,379 yards and 20 touchdowns. He helped the team win the national championship in 2018 and won the ACC Brian Piccolo Award in 2021 which is given to the "most courageous" football player in the conference.
