Earlier this week, ComicBook.com reported that someone had mysteriously erected a Pikachu statue in a New Orleans park over what was once a broken fountain. The fiberglass statue attracted international attention and symbolized the rising popularity of the Pokemon franchise thanks to Pokemon Go.
Unfortunately, it appears that Pikachu has attracted some unwanted attention. A video posted several nights ago on Instagram shows a person attacking the statue with a baseball bat. Then yesterday, graffiti was found on the statue, with the phrase “Pika F*** You” written on the Pokemon’s body in spray paint. A “B” was also sprayed on Pikachu’s face, which seems to indicate that Team Rocket was not responsible for the attack.

This isn’t the only damage the Pikachu has sustained in the last week. It appears that Pikachu’s tail developed a crack, forcing the statue’s mysterious creator to apply a thin layer of glue to repair the damage.
For those concerned about Pikachu’s defacing, it appears that good samaritans are already on the case. A reddit post about the defaced statue claimed that someone had already removed the graffiti from the statue.
