In her new memoir, Grace Notes: My Recollections, the Golden Globe winner details her struggle with addiction.
In excerpts published by Page Six, Sagal reveals that she had a 15-year battle with cocaine, diet pill and alcohol addictions.
Sagal, in an interesting revelation, also cites a beloved classic Hollywood star as one of her first encounter with addiction.
Growing up in Los Angeles, Sagal was good friends with Judy Garland’s daughter, Lorna Luft. She saw Garland, as well as her own mother, struggle with pill addiction.
“Lorna’s mom had a lot of pills on her bedside table and slept past noon just like my mom,” she says. “We hung tight. And, of course, I thought everyone’s mom took a lot of pills.”
Upon the revelation, Sagal’s fans took to Twitter to offer support and cheers for her bravery, while others took to criticism.

So Katey Sagal is an addict. Who in Hollywood isn’t? It’s a friggin requirement to be an addict or to have been one before you work there.
