It’s been a magical day for JK Rowling. Today, on July 31st, the author saw her latest book get released as Harry Potter and the Cursed Child hit shelves all over the world. The 8th novel contains the script that Rowling co-wrote for a play of the same name that debuted at London’s West End this year. And, what’s more, the author is also celebrating her 51st birthday today. So, it should come as little surprise that Rowling was gifted a cake resembling King’s Cross early this morning upon the stroke of midnight.

The author took a photo of the cake and posted it to her Twitter, writing, “I got a cake in the shape of King’s Cross at midnight ๐Ÿ˜Š.” Dressed in a sleek black gown, the author can be seen standing between her husband and the delectable cake. Surely, the treat appears to beautiful to eat, but I’d find it hard to believe the author didn’t snag a bite to eat once it had been served.

King’s Cross, of course, holds a special in Rowling’s heart for many reasons. Before Harry Potter, Rowling felt attached to the bustling station as her parents first met on a train at King’s Cross, and Rowling decided to use the spot as her gateway into the magical world of Harry Potter. Today, Harry Potter fans flock to the popular station to take a photo at Platform 9 & 3/4 where a luggage trolley has been erected to honor the famous franchise.

And, now, Rowling can celebrate her birthday with millions of fans who’re surely excited to read the next installment of the Harry Potter franchise. And, even better, the author will yet again shine light upon the series when the upcoming spin-off film Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them is released on November 18th.
