Texas law enforcement officials have identified the slain suspect responsible for the attack on Dallas Police as 25-year-old Micah Xavier Johnson.
The suspect was killed by a robot bomb, and robotics expert Peter W. Singer reported that the Dallas Police appear to be the first law enforcement agency to use a robot to kill a suspect, according to the Associated Press.

At a news conference earlier Friday, Police Chief David Brown and Dallas major Mike Rawlings said one of the shooters wanted to kill white people. “The suspect said he was upset about Black Lives Matter. He said he was upset about recent police shootings. The suspect was upset at white people. The suspect stated he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers.”
The snipers in Dallas were responsible for shooting 12 police officer and two civilians during a rally Thursday night to protest the recent police shootings. Five police officers were killed, and another seven were wounded. Police Chief David Brown mentioned that one suspect was surrounded and gun fire was exchanged after negotiations fell apart.
The suspect reportedly spent hours on the phone discussing his motives for the attack with police negotiators.
“The suspect stated that we will eventually find the IEDs. The suspect stated he was not affiliated with any groups. He stated he did those alone,” Brown reported. The shooter claims that he acted alone, but three other suspects were brought into custody by the police.
“We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot…for it to detonate where the suspect was,” Brown continued. “Other options would have exposed our officers to grave dangers. The suspect is deceased as a result of detonating the bomb. The reporting that the suspect killed himself is not accurate.”
The horrific event was the deadliest day for U.S. Law Enforcement since the 2001 terrorist attacks.
