Criminal Minds‘ doors are remaining open for two new series regulars following Thomas Gibson’s dramatic exit, TVLine reports.
Word on the street is that one of the characters could potentially succeed Hotchner as team leader, however, the other role is being kept tightly under wraps for now.

Gibson was recently fired for kicking a producer and has reportedly attended anger management classes in the past for shoving an assistant director.
Very passionate about the show, Gibson has said, “I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 yearsโฆ I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now.”
His departure follows fellow cast member Shemar Moore’s departure in the spring.
The new season begins Wednesday, Sept. 28.
