Pop superstar Britney Spears is at her wit’s end with the tabloids making false claims about her. In an effort to send a message to the media, the “Toxic” singer plans to sue In Touch magazine.
In a letter obtained by TMZ, Britney’s lawyer issued a stern warning to the higher-ups at In Touch that the publication should not publish a story about Britney’s allegedly bizarre behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards last month. The story made claims that the 34-year-old musician was “talking and laughing to herself and using a British accent.”

The magazine then went on to notify Britney’s reps that the story was still going to run. According to TMZ, Britney’s lawyer says the story is “utterly false, highly defamatory and completely offensive to Ms. Spears.”
Spears is sick and tired of news outlets writing “made-up” stories, especially in light of the fact that she has turned her life around in a major way since her infamous meltdown in 2007. Britney and her team plan to absolutely sue In Touch if they publish the story. Also, this will be the first of many lawsuits to come if the false coverage continues.
This isn’t the first time Spears has gone after the media. In 2005, she filed a $20 million libel lawsuit against US Weekly magazine after the publication claimed that she and her ex-husband Kevin Federline made a sex tape, and that they were worried it was going to be released, according to IBT.
In Touch has made no comment on the situation at the moment.
