Only 2 Gene Hackman Movies Are Currently On Netflix, And We’ll Be Watching Them ASAP

Films starring the legend are few and far between on streaming, but Netflix has a few.

Hollywood has been mourning the loss of Gene Hackman all over, with several tributes from his movie-star friends and a special ‘In Memoriam’ section at this year’s Oscars. Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found dead late last month.

Unfortunately, for those looking to watch one of his bonafide classics like Unforgiven or The Conversation, they’re few and far between on streaming services. But Netflix does have two of his lesser-seen (but still good!) movies available at your leisure.

Runaway Jury

An adaptation of John Grisham’s novel of the same name, this 2003 legal thriller pits an upstanding lawyer played by Dustin Hoffman against a slippery jury consultant played by Hackmanโ€”who is trying to rig the jury for the defense through bribery. Plenty of other big names, like John Cusack and Rachel Weisz, also make appearances.

Under Suspicion

In this tightly-wound 2000 thriller, Hackman plays tax attorney Henry Hearst, who is brought in for questioning at a Puerto Rico police station after a detective (Morgan Freeman) thinks he is responsible for the rape and murder of a young girl. Everyone, including Hearst’s wife (Monica Bellucci), is suspicious of him, and he works to clear his name. This one was originally screened out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival.

Both films are available now on Netflix.
