The first trailer for Hostel director Eli Roth's remake of Death Wish is now online - and you can watch it above!
Bruce Willis will be stepping into the role played by Charles Bronson, in a story that has been updated for modern times by Roth and A-Team reboot director, Joe Carnahan. Along with Willis, Death Wish features actors like Vincent D'Onorio (Daredevil), Elisabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas), Dean Norris (Breaking Bad) and Mike Epps.
As you can see above, the remake's story revolves around a vigilante who starts to become a social media trending topic. That vigilante turns out to be Paul Kersey (Willis) a peaceful family man whose life is up-ended when his wife and daughter are the victims of a violent home invasion. In the aftermath, Paul gets his hands on some guns and decides that the law isn't doing enough to clean up the streets - so he sets out to correct the problem himself.
Eli Roth isn't known for restraint or subtlety in his his films, and Death Wish definitely looks like it will indulge in revenge fantasy without a second thought or pause to contemplate things like gun violence. That will probably be a relief for some action movie fans, who prefer the throwback approach - meaning, bigger body counts and less moral or political messaging in their action flicks.
Death Wish will be in theaters on November 22nd.
