Did Sony just find their Barbie?
According to Hollywood insider, Tracking Board, Anne Hathaway is in negotiations to star in Sony’s live-action Barbie movie, assuming her schedule permits.

The Oscar winner recently wrapped Ocean’s Eight and just signed on to the sci-fi movie O2. If her shooting schedule is a problem for Barbie, Sony will have to find another leading lady.

Although the film is still without a director, Alethea Jones is believed to be a frontrunner to helm the project, which is scheduled for release on June 29, 2018.
The movie will be produced by Amy Pascal with Walter F. Markes and Laurie MacDonald, in addition to Mattel.
“Ms. Pascal think she has finally cracked “Barbie’ as a live-action comedy; negotiations are underway with an Oscar-winning acress for the tonally tricky title role,” a New York Times profile of Pascal said.
