Jane Allen was a teacher’s aide in Georgia, until she called Michelle Obama a “gorilla.”

Allen, who previously worked at Chestatee Elementary in Gainesville, took to Facebook to post her thoughts on the First Lady taking vacations.

“This poor Gorilla. How is she going to function in the real world, by not having all of her luxurious vacations paid for anymore?” Allen wrote on her Facebook page. “She needs to focus on getting a total make-over (especially the hair), instead of planning vacations! She is a disgrace to America!”

She also posted another callous remark on an article about the First Lady being one of the most admired women in the world.

“I admire a gorilla more that (sic) I admire her. (Wait I forgot, she is a gorilla)!” Allen wrote.

Allen’s remarks sparked public outcry that loud enough to be heard by officials at Chestatee Elementary, who took swift and decisive action against her.

“Effective Monday, Oct. 3, Jane Wood Allen has been relieved from duty and is no longer an employee of Forsyth County Schools,” Allen’s school district posted to Facebook. “Racism and discrimination are not tolerated in our school district. We are committed to ongoing staff training on the acceptance of all individuals.”

Do you think the school district went too far by firing Allen, or did the punishment fit the crime?
