It's time we headed back down to Fraggle Rock. The acclaimed series is returning to HBO in a digitally remastered version.

When Fraggle Rock premiered in 1983, the series aired on HBO to critical praise. The series was originally pitched for younger audiences, but viewers of all ages fell for Fraggle Rock because of its mature themes and family friendly jokes.

Fraggle Rock follows a series of puppets known as the Fraggles. The colorful creatures live in a place called Fraggle Rock where they live in caves along with other funny species like Doozers, Gorgs, and Silly Creatures. Filled with an eclectic soundtrack, Fraggle Rock follows its characters as they go on adventures and teach viewers about diversity and friendship. They also interact with various human companions who the Fraggles think

The original series last for 96 episodes and has been dubbed into 98 languages. Fraggle Rock has also garnered several awards and cameoed in other works like A Muppet Family Christmas and an animated series.

Fans will see Fraggle Rock next in a live-action adaptation. Rumors of a full-length film have rumbled since 2005, but those plans fell through. However, in 2011, New Regency got rights to Fraggle Rock and. The film will reportedly feature all the main creatures from the original series and likely mixed CGI with live-action footage. Jospeh Gordon-Levitt is attached to the film as a star and producer. Screenwriters James Byrkit and Alex Manugian will penned the script.

"The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on 'Sesame Street,' and then on 'Fraggle Rock,'" Gordon-Levitt said. "Jim Henson's characters make you laugh and sing, but they're also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I've never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I'm grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project."

Currently, there's no word on when a Fraggle Rock movie will hit theaters, so fans can bid their time by rewatching the original series on HBO will it aires at the end of this year.
