While it seems like a short engagement, the 22-year-old and his 18-year-old bride-to-be have been courting for quite some time now.
In March, the TLC star announced the news of their courtship in a digital exclusive for the website, stating how he was looking forward to spending more time with Caldwell and that the two couldn’t “wait to get to know each other.”
It was also revealed that Duggar gave Caldwell a promise ring, which meant he would wait for her for marriage.
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine shortly after Joy-Anna’s wedding this past spring, Duggar and Caldwell said they were very excited to not be courting anymore and settling into a new chapter of their life together.
“I was definitely nervous going into it,” the soon-to-be groom explained. “But I wasn’t afraid that she was going to say no, because she has said, ‘I’m just waiting on you!’”
