Happy birthday to Modern Family‘s sultry and charming Latina, Sofia Vergara! She turns 44 years old.
Though she is best known for the role of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the hilarious ABC sitcom that also stars Ed O’Neill as her husband, Vergara’s acting career in the United States has included significant roles on the big screen.

According to IMDB, Vergara most recently worked with Reese Witherspoon in 2015’s Hot Pursuit and appeared in Chef alongside Jon Favreau the year prior. She also has been seen in Machete Kills, a remake of the TV classic The Three Stooges and New Year’s Eve.

Vergara relocated to the states in the mid-1990’s after growing up in Barranquilla, Colombia. She initially wanted to be a dentist, according to Biography, but was discovered on a beach by a photographer as a teenager and starred in a Pepsi commercial for the Latin American markets. Vergara also worked as a model and acted in a Mexican telenovela.
Once in the states, Vergara hosted programming for Univision, including a travel show and variety show. Her break out role came in 2002 when she was cast in Big Trouble alongside Tim Allen and Rene Russo. A few years later, Vergara worked with Tyler Perry in two of his films, Madea Goes to Jail and Meet the Browns.
Along with her successful career, Vergara has been lucky in love. In November 2015, she and Magic Mike star Joe Manganiello tied the knot after dating for about a year and a half. Vergara has a 24-year-old son, Manolo, from her first marriage.
