The Duggar family is not new to controversy, but when it comes to their children, it’s a whole different level of outcry.
Jessa and her husband, Ben, were out and about with their then four-month old son, Sturgeon and took a few snaps to share on Instagram.

It didn’t take long for comments to flood in questioning if the couple understood the safety issue they had put their son in. The “safety issue” isn’t right-in-your-face obvious, but any parent who is up-to-date with the latest safety regulations and recommendations picked up on it fast.
Worried parents took task with the fact that the young baby was sitting in his car seat, hanging out while not in the actual car. Two photographs posted a few weeks apart show little Sturgeon sitting in his car seat, not in the car, and in one photo, Ben is sitting in a coffee shop reading a book and the baby is in his car seat one the floor off to the side.

According to a recent study, and new recommendations as a result, the car seat the Seewald’s had their son in, often referred to as a “bucket seat” is not safe for kids under two years old to sit in for long periods of time โ and should not be used as a means to help keep your child to sleep.
There have been documented cases of babies dying while in their bucket seats asleep and unattended and that’s why the Seewald’s were taken to task for keeping young Sturgeon secured in the car seat.
No, he wasn’t exactly “unattended” according to what can be seen in the Instagram photos they shared, but was he actually in any real danger?
What do YOU think?
