Until divorce do we part. Regardless of what you believe about the Amber Heard / Johnny Depp divorce battle, they do have one thing in common with some of the most famous celebrity divorces. There is no prenup! Surprised? We aren’t. These two are heading for splitsville and the ride is going to be bumpy. Here is a look back at a few celebrities who parted from their spouses poorer than richer.

Mel and Robyn Gibson

 Here’s a Hollywood divorce to wrap your head around. The couple was married for thirty years until their 2011 split. Mel dished out half of his fortune, a whopping $425 million dollars to his ex-wife Robyn. She also receives half of his residual film earnings for the rest of his life. We would say she isn’t doing too bad these days.

Katy Perry and Russell Brand

No prenup here! After a short-lived, thirteenth month marriage, Katy Perry and Russell Brand called it quits in 2010. Brand could have easily taken half of Perry’s $55 million fortune, but he chose to abstain. It is even said that Perry put a smiley face at the end of her name when signing her divorce papers. Talk about an amicable split.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie

In 2000, Madonna and Guy Ritchie were happy newlyweds. By 2008, Madonna was worth a staggering, $500 million and getting ready for a divorce. By the end of their divorce settlement, Madonna served a nice, hot plate of $92 million to Guy Ritchie. Can we marry and then divorce Madonna too?

Garth Brooks and Sandy Mahl

 Papa loved Mama, at one point. Although these two were college sweethearts, the love didn’t last. After fourteen years of marriage and a rocky one at that, Brooks divorced his wife in 2001 to the twang of $125 million. 

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe

Two kids and eight years of marriage later, Ryan Phillippe and Reece Witherspoon got divorced. The two were both small time actors until Witherspoon’s Academy Award win for Walk The Line (2005). Afterwards she was raking in $20 million a movie. Thanks to California law, Ryan was entitled to half of her earnings. 

Kenny and Marianne Rogers

No prenup? No problem. Goodbye Marianne (wife number 4) and goodbye $60 million. After a sixteen year marriage, the two divorced in 1993. In 1997, Rogers married Wanda Miller, who is 20 years his junior. Typical?

Kelsey and Camille Grammer

In 2011, the Frasier actor split from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Camille Grammer. Towards the end of Frasier, Kelsey Grammer was making $1.6 million an episode and was the highest-paid actor on television. With a worth of $120 million, Camille was set on getting half. By the end of the divorce settlement, Camille received roughly $30 million. Two weeks after their divorce was finalized, Kelsey was remarried. At least Camille has the show, right?

Neil Diamond and Marcia Murphy

Neil was certainly full of diamonds and riches. By the end of their twenty-five year relationship, Neil Diamond handed over $150 million to his ex-wife Marcia Murphy in 1994. This was reportedly half his fortune. Regardless, neither of the two are hurting.
