In the most recent episode of Game of Thrones, “Eastwatch,” fans got a taste of just how ruthless Daenerys can be. She’s a bold ruler, and she won’t let anyone stand in her way. Dany proved that by burning Randyll and Dickon Tarly alive in front of their men.

Tyrion was clearly against this decision, despite the fact that he defended Dany when speaking with Varys later on. However, this decision and the subsequent conversations that took place opened up the doors to a tragic theory about Dany’s potential future.

Tyrion Lannister could be the one to kill Daenerys Targaryen.

This is certainly not an outcome that any fans wants to imagine, seeing as how both of these characters are favorites among the viewers. But when you think about this episode, it paints a vivid picture of their futures.

There have been a lot of conversations about Daenerys becoming just like her father, the Mad King. She doesn’t believe she’s anything like him, saying that she has a clear head and is doing the right thing, but she can be downright tyrannical at times. Dany fancies herself a freer of slaves, and she has been, but she has shown that she will stop at nothing to take the throne back.

Tyrion understands that Dany has parallels to her father, and he’s keeping a careful eye on that. The cautious relationship being built is slightly reminiscent of the relationship Tyrion’s brother Jaime had with the Mad King.

Jaime served King Targaryen for quite some time, and he knew things could only get worse if he didn’t put a stop to the King’s reign. This is why Jaime killed his leader, earning himself the name Kingslayer.

Like the Mad King, death is the only thing that could stop Dany from taking what it is she wants.

Varys told Tyrion that “the right counsel” was the only thing keeping Daenerys from turning into her father. That sentiment is true, but think about how Dany has been treating her counsel as of late. The queen is doubting her advisers’ every decision at this point, leaving Tyrion in a tough place.

Is Daenerys beyond saving? If so, it seems like Tyrion will have to make the call to put her down before things get too out of hand.
