Fans of the BBC series Sherlock have been eagerly waiting to hear some sign of life for the beloved show. The show has had four seasons, but they had to wait three years to get the fourth season, due to the high-demand for lead Benedict Cumberbatch, as well as other factors.

During a San Diego Comic-Con panel for the Sherlock comic, the creators of the series teased that a new season would come eventually, according to Deadline.

“There is something we are working on in London,” said EP Sue Vertue when asked about the show.

“We do have an answer but we’re not telling what it is,” said co-creator Steven Moffat. “Everything’s possibly on the table.”

Moffat also noted that producers “haven’t had the conversation” about gearing up a fifth season. He said he is fully focused finishing out his run on Doctor Who.

He did offer a more light-hearted tease, telling fans that even if Sherlock isn’t back right-away, they could always bring it back when their careers need reviving.

“I’m assuming at some point we all show up again and do it when our careers have dipped,” he said. “We will re-create our glory days back when everyone loved us.”

While Sherlock is extremely popular on air and on streaming services, the show is dependent on Cumberbatch and his co-lead Martin Freeman. Both actors are currently swept up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange and Everett K. Ross, respectively, so their production availability is a bit limited over the next few years.
