Arya's Slaughter
Game of Thrones wasted no time in bringing death back to television, as the premiere began with jaw-dropping murder of House Frey.
Arya finished up Season 6 by using what she learned from the many-faced god and assassinating Walder Frey — the man who killed her brother and mother. Killing the head of the Freys wasn't enough for Arya, though.
The introduction of the episode saw Arya wear the face of Walder Frey, give a devastating speech about the events of the Red Wedding and poison every member of House Frey that mattered.
Winter has come for House Frey...
prevnextLyanna Mormont
Lyanna Mormont became an overnight sensation during the sixth season of Game of Thrones.
The young leader of Bear Island commands her people with more poise than just about every king or queen in the series. In her first scene, she stole the entire show and fans couldn't get enough.
Lyanna picked up right where she left off in Season 7, delivering a powerful speech in the defense of Jon Snow.
After Jon was questioned for letting girls fight in his army, Lyanna stood and told all of the men in the room that she would never back down, and all of House Mormont would fight alongside the King in the North.
Seriously, Lyanna Mormont is not to be messed with.
prevnextThe Return of Jorah
Speaking of Mormonts, Jorah made his Season 7 debut in a surprising place during the premiere.
As Sam was taking pans away from the isolation chambers, he was grabbed by an arm that was riddled with grayscale.
The man inside the cell, who was later revealed to be Jorah, asked Sam if the Dragon Queen had arrived in Westeros yet.
Now that we know Jorah is at The Citadel — arguably the one place he can get treated for his disease — we can begin believing that the guy has a small chance of survival.
Plus, who doesn't love the idea of Sam and Jorah teaming up?
prevnextDany's Home
For six long seasons, Daenerys has talked of her home, her lineage, and taking back what is rightfully hers.
We've all rooted for her since day one, and now she's finally made it back to where she belongs.
As the premiere came to a close, Dany made it back to Dragonstone. She explored the castle with her inner-circle and she's readying them all for war.
With the final line in the episode, Daenerys looked over to Tyrion and said, "Shall we begin?"
It was almost impossible not to get chills at that moment, let's all be honest.
