Teen Mom OG star Maci Bookout was confronted about her ex Ryan Edwards’ drug problem during the first part of the show’s season-end reunion special. She was put on the spot by Edwards’ new wife, Mackenzie Standifer.
Dr. Drew Pinsky hosted the interview special and opened up the discussion about Edwards’ drug use, according to Us Weekly. After seeing the now-infamous video of Edwards’ falling asleep behind the wheel, he said, “When I see someone nodding off in the car like that, I think opiates.”

Standifer then confronted Bookout about why she hadn’t gotten help sooner. Bookout had just touched on how concerned she was for Bentley, the former couple’s child together, but Standifer points out if that was the case, she would have gotten him help sooner.
“You had known about his problems since November,” Standifer said. “He could have died and still you said nothing.”

Standifer then explained her theory on why Bookout didn’t take action: Bookout wanted to “exploit Ryan and his addiction on the show.” Standifer said she and her husband was “humiliated” by Bookout, who was described an “enabler.”
Pinsky also touched on the heat that MTV faced for allowing Edwards to drive while under the influence. Pinksy clarified that producers were not aware of the situation.
“The producers would not have let Ryan in the car,” he said. “They found out only after the fact, just like the rest of us.”
This falls in line with the network’s statement in the wake of the clip’s initial airing.
“MTV does not condone driving under the influence. Ryan’s erratic behavior was due to actions that he took without anyone’s prior knowledge,” the statement read.
