It’s been over 15 years since a very muscular Russell Crowe first graced theater screens in Gladiator, and these days the A-lister is rocking a very different look.

The 53-year-old donned all black (t-shirt, shorts, and hoodie) but tossed a little color into his outfit by sporting a pair of, what appears to be, blue Adidas tennis shoes.
It’s not a huge surprise that Crowe is embracing the dad-bod life now, as it’s been increasingly noticeable in his film roles.

That film, while not well-received by critics, has grossed well over $300 million since it’s June 9th release.
Crowe also shot a cameo for Netflix’s Brad Pitt-starring film War Machine.
Next up for him is Boy Erased, which is said to be about “The son of a Baptist preacher” who “is forced to participate in a church-supported gay conversion program.”
That film was written and is being directed by Crowe’s fellow Aussie, Joel Edgerton, who will also co-star with Crowe and Nicole Kidman.
There may even be a clue here that explains Crowe’s new physical appearance. Perhaps he intentionally put on weight for this role specifically. Time will tell.
