The 15-second promo features plenty of Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford, and teases a dark return to the world of the Blade Runners. At one point, Gosling's character is seen in a fit of rage, and he's shown with blood covering his face in another.

prevnextBlade Runner 2049 Director To Helm Dune Reboot
After a bit of rumor and speculation, it's now official: Arrival director Denis Villeneuve is directing the Dune movie reboot for Legendary Pictures.
The announcement was made by Dune author Brian Herbert on his Facebook page today.
Villeneuve has been a fast rising talent in the industry; his films have gained notoriety for their blend of high cinema with a variety of pulpy genre tropes. He's made espionage thrillers (Sicario), mystery thrillers (Prisoners), and has most recently ventured into sci-fi with the Oscar-nominated film Arrival and the upcoming Blade Runner 2049. He's probably one of the best candidates to tackle a new Dune movie project - as in, possibly one of the only directors versatile enough in both pulpy sci-fi and high art filmmaking to pull it off...

With Blade Runner star Harrison Ford returning to star alongside Ryan Gosling in this new film, fans of the original are looking for all kinds of connecitive threads between the two films (just don't expect the Deckard replicant question to be answered). Today, we learn that another character from the original film may be appearing in Blade Runner 2049 - though details on who it is, are vague.
Terminator Fans has the rumor that a replicant character from Blade Runner will be appearing in Blade Runner 2049 - but which replicant character is not known. There are some competing theories that say anyone from Rutger Hauer's Roy Batty to Sean Yong's Rachael ( or even a de-aged Harrison Ford playing a second, replicant version of Deckard) could be the rumored cameo in Blade Runner 2049...
prevnextMore Blade Runner Sequels Could Be On The Way
It took 35 years for a sequel to the seminal sci-fi classic Blade Runner to come to theaters. Blade Runner 2049 will release in 2017, but the franchise may continue on even further than that.
Director Denis Villeneuve, in speaking to Screen, revealed that if Blade Runner 2049 does well enough at the box office then the franchise may continue onward and that he may even stick around to direct future installments if he can stay focused on one project for that long.
"I'm doomed, I love sci-fi," he said. "I have two more ideas now that I would love to do. [And] Blade Runner could go on… we'll see how this one goes."
Of course, Villeneuve may already have another franchise vying for his attention. Rumor has it that he's in early talks to direct the Dune movie reboot...
