On September 24th, RAW will bring No Mercy to Los Angeles’ Staples Center. As of now the only match we know will happen is Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.
However, there’s plenty of rumors swirling around, particularly concerning WWE’s direction for Roman Reigns. The Big Dog is currently tied to 3 huge matches for the September pay-per-view.

With No Mercy still a few weeks away, it’s unlikely that WWE has made their decision. That said, WWE may be feeling out where to take Reigns tonight on RAW so look for him to be involved with several personalities.
Let’s take a deeper look into the 3 possibilities for Roman Reigns at No Mercy:
Intercontinental Championship Match: The Miz vs. Roman Reigns
According to a report from WrestleZone, WWEย has tentative plans to have Reigns challenge The Mizย at No Mercy. A win by Reigns would make him a Grand Slam Champion and he’d join his Shield brother, Dean Ambrose to be the 2nd WWEย Superstar to do so in 2017.ย
A feud with The Mizย would enhance anyone’s career, as he may be in his sports entertainment prime. WWEย looks to be repositioning Reigns as a babyface, so a run against the Mizย could help that transition.ย
This match-up feelsย fresh and could give Roman Reigns a platform to display improvedย skills on the microphone. Regardless of who leaves No Mercy as champion, this would be a program that leaves everyoneย enhanced.

RAW Tag Team Championship Match: Roman Reigns and John Cena vs. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose
A report from the Dirty Sheets says that WWEย is “discussing” this tag team match of mythological proportions. Consider this match unlikely, but in the realm of possibility.
In fact, WWEย has already planted the seeds for John Cena/Roman Reigns tag team and to imagine them facing off againstย Ambrose and Rollinsย could make any wrestlingย fansย squeal with glee.ย
A mega tag match like would serve as a breeding ground for story as several narratives would be a t play. It could lead to a Dean Ambroseย heel turn or the launchingย point for a Cena/Reigns super fight.ย
WWEย will choose this option if they are looking to bide their time. It keeps 4 of their biggestย names from committing to singles feud and allows WWEย time and room to get creative.

John Cena vs. Roman Reigns
Forbes broke the news that WWEย may be ready to capitalize on Roman Reigns vs. John Cena. Clearly, this is a WrestleMania main eventย caliber contest that could be coming in an “off” pay-per-view. Even though a meeting in September would feel rushed, we’d still be excited to see it.
Dave Meltzerย of the Wrestling Observer had this to say on the subject:
“When [Johnย Cenaย bookedย Roman Reignsย as his tag team partner] Roman Reigns gave him this look like you know like he didn’t want to be his partner. But they ended up being partners and not having any big problems except for that one problem right in the end which was the big tease.
So obviously we’re gettingย Cenaย and Roman Reigns. I don’t know if it’sย gonnaย be the next pay-per-view but it could be. But we’re certainly getting it though.”
Cenaย vs. Reigns will happen at some point, but No Mercy feels a little premature. This show should be about the rise of Braunย Strowman. An ill-timed super fight between WWEย hegemonsย would overshadowย Strowmanย and Lesnar. Let’s hope the hold offย and save the marquee match for a bigger show.
