Teen Mom OG – Then And Now

The cast of Teen Mom OG has grown up before everyone’s eyes on MTV since the show first aired in December of 2009. The stars of the series – Farrah Abraham, Maci Bookout-McKinney, Catelynn Lowell-Baltierra, and Amber Portwood – have all changed drastically since that time and their lives are quite different than they were eight years ago.

As for the four mothers, they all were featured on the MTV series in their teen years while expecting and giving birth to their first children. The famous mothers are now in their mid-20’s and have all experienced their fair share of drama and success. Check out the Teen Mom OG stars then and now below:

Farrah Abraham

Of the four main cast members, Farrah Abraham has been featured in the media more than anyone.

When she first appeared on Teen Mom OG, Farrah was pregnant with her first child and had dreams of being a model. Her parents Debra and Michael were heavily involved in Farrah’s life in raising her daughter, Sophia.

Sophia is Farrah’s daughter with her boyfriend Derek Underwood. The two started dating in 2006 and Farrah became pregnant with his child in 2008. Derek Underwood died in a car accident on December 28, 2008.

Farrah gave birth to Sophia on February 23, 2009. The first months of her pregnancy were documented on MTV series 16 & Pregnant. She was cast in the spinoff of Teen Mom OG months later.

In 2013, Abraham was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence. She pleaded guilty to the charges in June of the year and was sentenced to six months probation, six months of sobriety tests and a $500 fine.

Most notably in that same year, Farrah Abraham filmed her own sex tape with a famous male porn star. The tape was sold to Vivid Entertainment.

Despite all of these incidents, Farrah Abraham has turned her life around drastically.

Farrah Abraham (Now)

Farrah Abraham is now single once again. She recently broke up with her boyfriend Simon Saran, and is looking for love on an all-new reality show Million Dollar Matchmaker.

“My relationship status is single. Living the dream,” Abraham said. “I’m back to my good old self.”

In addition to her appearance on Million Dollar Matchmaker, Farrah Abraham has previously appeared in a slew of other reality shows including: Couples Therapy, Celebrity Big Brother, and Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition.

Farrah Abraham’s daughter, Sophia, is now eight-years-old. Even at such a young age, she is already in the modeling and fashion world.

“What I’m most proud of is Sophia is really into fashion,” Abraham said during an interview with PEOPLE. “She’s opening up her own Sophia Laurent boutique store in Austin, Texas. She’s mentioned in New York Fashion Week. She’s in children model magazines. I’m so proud of Sophia and that doesn’t even really impact her real life. She’s just been so successful on her own so that’s just awesome to me.”

Much like she did from her first appearance on 16 & Pregnant, Farrah is still regularly igniting controversies. She frequently blasts her Teen Mom OG stars, and has made racially-charged comments on Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars Family Edition.

 

Amber Portwood (Then)

When Amber Portwood landed the gig with Teen Mom OG, she was a teen a typical teen. After she started dating her first boyfriend Gary at 16-years-old, Amber quickly became pregnant.

Her life quickly unraveled as the responsibilities of parenting became overwhelming. Amber and Gary tried to stay together but they would regularly engage in heated arguments. When their disagreements became physical, Child Protective Services stepped in and charged Amber with domestic abuse. She was then placed on probation.

To deal with her severe anxiety and depression, Amber turned to prescription medication. Her drug issues became potentially fatal and she couldn’t manage to kick her habits after jail and rehab. Hoping she could save her life, Amber decided to opt out of her drug court probation and served a five-year prison sentence.

While behind bars, Amber got her GED and took part in a sober living program. She was eventually let out on early release.

 

Amber Portwood (Now)

Amber Portwood and her ex-fiancé Matt Baier have been going through a tumultuous period in recent weeks. The former couple reportedly separated ways in June of this year, and Amber went on to scrape him off all of her social media accounts.

“Everything got thrown on the back burner when stuff happened,” Portwood told PEOPLE at the time, “but you’ll see us working through certain things together and you’ll see us talking about marriage and what we’re going to do.”

The original plan was for Amber and Matt to get married this coming October.

“I don’t know if I feel frantic or anything,” Portwood said about wedding planning. “I’m kind of scared — not for any particular reason — just the fact that I’m getting married. We are on time and we pretty much know exactly what we want to do. We’re just trying to stay level-headed, because there’s a lot going on right now.”

At this time, Amber and Matt have post-poned their wedding plans with no later date in mind.

Even though her relationship with Matt has gone through changes, one thing that hasn’t wavered is Amber’s unconditional love for her daughter, Leah.

“I just want to be a good role model for Leah and that’s another reason why I wanted to start my own businesses,” Portwood recently told PEOPLE. “I want people to know me for more than just from being Teen Mom OG, because there’s a lot more to me.”

 

Maci Bookout (Then)

When Maci was in high school, she says that she was a good girl with her only “bad” trait being that she didn’t boast a good grade in math class. During her senior year of high school, Maci lost her virginity to her bad boy boyfriend Ryan Edwards, and became pregnant.

Despite the hardships of being pregnant as a teen, Maci was determined to keep her dreams in tact. She went on to finish high school and enrolled in a local community college. Maci got her diploma via an accelerated program that Maci says ought to be referred to as “Second Chance High.”

Even though Maci tried to make it work with Ryan Edwards, their relationship would fall apart. However, Maci now seems happy as ever in her current marriage.

 

Maci Bookout (Now)

Maci Bookout went on to marry her longtime boyfriend Taylor McKinney. He popped the question in January of last year.

The two welcomed another child a few months after getting engaged. Maci and Taylor share two children together – 14-month-old Jayde and their 2-month-old son Maverick – in addition to 7-year-old Bentley, who the MTV star shares with her ex Ryan Edwards.

The happy couple even plans to possibly expand their family.

“We’ve both have talked about adoption or fostering in the future, down the road, but we’re not [having kids] biologically,” Bookout said during an interview with PEOPLE. “For both of us, it’s one of those things where if we are capable of providing a stable home, healthy relationships and some hope for a child who may not have that or ever experienced it, then we want to.”

As for her relationship with Ryan Edwards, Maci Bookout is at her wit’s end.

“I’m just sick of cleaning up his mess,” Bookout said on camera. “I get tired of dealing with the s—. Just being the only one that f—ing sees everything and cares.”

 

Catelynn Lowell (Then)

Catelynn Lowell and her high school sweetheart Tyler Baltierra chose to put their daughter Carly up for adoption in the early years of Teen Mom OG. The two were only 16-years-old at the time and the decision deeply impacted their relationships with their families, however, they felt that their child would have a better life with adoptive parents, Brandon Teresa.

Despite the family drama, Catelynn and Tyler went on to get engaged, graduate high school, and enrolled college. Only months before Tyler and Catelynn were set to walk down the aisle, he called off the wedding on national television during an appearance on VH1’s reality show Couple’s Therapy.

 

Catelynn Lowell (Now)

Catelynn Lowell and her husband Tyler Baltierra now seem happier than ever. However, she went through a serious rough patch in March of last year. The 25-year-old checked into a treatment facility for mental health issues with post-partum depression in 2016.

Currently, Catelynn is doing much better. She and Tyler moved into a new home and looking at possibly expanding their family.

“I’ve definitely been thinking about it and that’s the one thing that’s holding me back, honestly,” she said of her previous battle with PPD. “Especially because they say if you’ve had postpartum once, you have a higher chance of getting it with your next.”

Judging by her social media accounts, Catelynn, Tyler, and their 2-year-old daughter Novalee Reign look to be in a healthy place.
