Kelly Clarkson Officially Quits Her Talk Show

After months of speculation, The Kelly Clarkson Show is over. The American Idol winner confirmed such in a lengthy Instagram post.

Clarkson has seemingly been at odds with production over scheduling for months, and even hinted at this when she returned to the stage after not touring or doing live shows for several years. The news comes months after the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

The show is ending after seven successful seasons. โ€œI have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at (โ€˜The Kelly Clarkson Showโ€™), both in Los Angeles and New York,โ€ she began in the social media statement. โ€œThere have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show, and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner.โ€

She continued, โ€œBecause of all that, this was not an easy decision โ€” but this season will be my last hosting TKCS. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.โ€

Clarkson shared daughter River Rose and son Remy with Blackson. He died after a private three-year battle with cancer. The two had a contentious split, with legal woes over custody, property, and finances. Clarkson missed several shows over the last year as his health declined.ย

Clarkson promises fans will still see her. โ€œIโ€™ll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on โ€˜The Voice’ from time to timeโ€™โ€ฆyou never know where I might show up next,โ€ she told fans.
