The Mountain
The Hound saw a "mountain shaped like an arrowhead" in the fire in the Season 7 premiere, and he found that mountain as the men made their way north of the wall this past week.
If the mountain that Clegane found en route to the White Walkers looked familiar, it's because you've seen it before. Jon's men were in the same place that the Children of the Forest were thousands of years ago.
We were given a look at the Children in one of Bran's flashback scenes and you can tell that the mountain in the back is the same one, just covered in grass instead of snow.
As much as they've played into the prophecy of this whole story, it's unlikely that the Children of the Forest will be absent from the final season. This connection just proves that their fingerprints are still all over this mess, and Jon will likely need their help to stop the Night King for good.
It's also worth noting that The Hound saw a mountain in a vision, given that that's the nickname of his rival brother.
prevnextNight King's Spear
The Night King proved his might by taking down Viserion with a spear made of ice, and it took him just one throw.
If you paid very close attention to the White Walkers earlier in the episode, it appears as though they had come prepared. There were three spears being carried by the five white walkers, matching the three dragons being brought by Daenerys. If the spears were just weapons that White Walkers casually carried around, why didn't they all have one.
It seems as though the Night King could have known that Danerys was coming, and he planned accordingly.
While he only took one dragon down, it might given him all he needed to take the war to Westeros.
prevnextRavens
Ravens have always been a huge part of Game of Thrones, as they are used to deliver messages from one city to another.
That being said, did you notice that they were everywhere in this episode?
During the Winterfell scenes, it seemed as though the cawing of the ravens was never going to stop. Even during important conversations the noise persisted. Perhaps this was a sign that private conversations weren't exactly private.
Bran is now the Three-Eyed Raven, and he uses animals to see and hear things from all over the country. He uses ravens more often than any other creature.
It seems as though Bran could be watching over Winterfell at all times, trying to figure out exactly what Littlefinger is up to, and saving his sisters from going to war with one another.
prevnextJon's Savior
Jon was miraculously saved by Benjen Stark at the end of the episode, but not everything about that scene was as it seemed.
It may have looked like Benjen just showed up, at random, to rescue Jon from peril. However, if you think back to last season, Benjen had someone else guiding his movements when he saved another one of his nephews.
Benjen saved the lives of Bran and Meera after Hodor was killed, and Meera asked him why he came. He said, "The Three-Eyed Raven sent for me."
It looks like Benjen has an open line of communication with the raven, who is now Bran. In the previous episode, Bran was seen scoping out the Night King's army via a flock of ravens.
It's entirely possible that Bran was the one who saved Jon, sending word to Benjen that the King in the North was in desperate need.
prevnextThe Butcher Shop
This is a really deep cut for the Game of Thrones creative team, but it makes a lot of sense. When Sansa and Arya had one of their arguments in this episode, they were standing in front of a butchered pig.
The bad blood between the sisters goes way back and, if you recall, the first big schism between them happened because of a butcher's son.
In the first season, Arya and some friends fought back against Joffrey, but the whiny prince said that the entire incident was the butcher boy's fault. Sansa wouldn't speak up and sided with Joffrey.
Because of this, The Hound rode off and killed the boy, as Joffrey requested. This action put The Hound on Arya's list, and birthed a hate for her sister that she didn't yet understand.
It's only fitting that the two are squaring off in a place where something is being butchered. Hopefully, the scenery isn't foreshadowing a deadly future between them.
