'Game of Thrones': Kit Harington Reveals Why Jon Snow Won't Ever Wear a Hat

It gets cold in the north. Like, really cold. So why doesn't Jon Snow ever wear a hat?

Game of Thrones fans have always wondered why the king in the north doesn't bundle up just a little bit more, considering he's always surrounded by snow and ice. You'd think a guy who spends his time in a permanent snowstorm would have something to protect his head.

That enormous bear hide can't be enough to keep Jon warm, but Kit Harington has revealed that you won't ever see the character donning any headgear.

During an interview with the New York Times, Harington said that he's always wanted to wear a hat while filming in the cold, but he isn't allowed.

"I wanted a hat when we were shooting in Iceland," the actor said. "We've had endless conversations about it. It's been a big, big question in Thrones, about when they're up North, whether they wear headgear or not. It seems ridiculous in cold climates not to have your head protected. But it's a decision they made a long time ago, the decision that we need to see faces more than heads being warm. It's very difficult when you're filming people in that environment, to differentiate between people's faces. I think they decided that was the most important thing. But trust me, no one wants a hat more than me."

At this point, it's pretty safe to say we'd recognize Jon Snow no matter what was on his head. He could certainly use one this week as he and his men head north of the wall.
