Dr. John Lunetta, medical director for the American Red Cross, brought tragedy to the state of Nevada on Monday.

The 40-year-old doctor reportedly shot his girlfriend Karen Jackson, 35, their infant son John Jr., who was about to celebrate his first birthday, and the family dog. Lunetta then turned the gun on himself.

Nevada police were called to Lunetta’s residence over a custodial argument, however they were not informed of any type of physical altercation. They arrived to find the bodies of the family in the home.

Neighbors claim that Lunetta often had women over to his home before Jackson moved in with him a year and a half ago. Even so, those same neighbors say that they never saw the couple fight or argue, and they never believed he was capable of murder.

On the other hand, there were some neighbors who told News 3 Las Vegas that Lunetta was often controlling, and the couple had started arguing a lot. They also claim that a moving truck had been in front of the home over the weekend, and they wondered if Jackson was moving out.

Lunetta served as the medical director for the Nevada region of American Red Cross, and his focus was on blood services. Jackson had just passed her exam to become a nurse practitioner.
