The above video shows something pretty amazing. 40-year-old Simon McDermott drives his dad, Ted, around and they both belt out ‘Quando, Quando, Quando’ together. That is a moment within itself, but the fact that Simon’s father has Alzheimer’s makes it a special moment to remember.
Ted was diagnosed with dementia in 2013 and his mental health has been going slowly over the years. He’s had trouble remembering members of his family and has had angry outbursts. But the one thing that “brings him back” is singing. Ted was an entertainer all his life and it shows in this video.

The two are naturals as they tool around town hitting each note with not only expertise, but showmanship. Notice that Ted even gives his son cues of what’s coming next and how to deliver the lines.
Rock on, Simon and Ted.
