One YouTube user has crafted an automatic Nerf Vulcan Sentry Gun that has the ability to track targets, and is definitely the weapon you want the next time you find yourself in a Nerf gun battle. The girl who assembled the awesome sentry gun in the YouTube video above is providing some serious competition to the guys who recently made the world’s largest functional Nerf gun.
This gun was created by modifying an existing Nerf Vulcan gun, and was designed and built by Instructables contributor BrittLiv. The gun will automatically fire at perpetrators, but can be programmed not to fire at a specific logo so it is perfect for alluring your friends into a trap.

The sentry gun is run by a computer, and the YouTube user controlling the impressive machine was using an Arduino Uno controller to help it move from side to side. The controller can also move and aim the gun while firing Nerf gun bullets. The gun in the video has an increased firing speed of 50% which gives the sentry weapon the speed and effectiveness to result in maximum damage to your enemies.
The computer code for the sentry gun was written by Bob Rudolph. On Rudolph’s website, he explains that in order to build the weapon you will need: an airsoft or paintball gun, a webcam to locate targets, a computer to process the video feed and aim the gun, Servo motors to aim the gun and squeeze the trigger, and a controller to interface between the computer and the servo motors.
Unfortunately, this Nerf Vulcan Sentry Gun will not be hitting the market any time soon, but would be an awesome DIY project. Head over to Instructables to learn how to assemble the lethal Nerf weapon.
