Remember Barb from Stranger Things? She was a bit of a loner type teenager and didn’t really hang out with the cool crowd, but she was a great friend to Nancy.
Barb (Shannon Purser) was taken from us way too soon when she accidentally cut herself and started bleeding at Steve’s party. She sat outside alone, waiting for her friend Nancy to make sure she got home safely.

Instead, Barb never made it home at all and it took some time for anyone to notice she was missing. Poor Barb. Nancy intiated and led the search, but law enforcement wrote off her disappearance as a runaway case.
Meanwhile the evil government agency behind Hawkins Lab covered up her attack by ditching her pretty baby blue Volkswagen Rabbit convertible.
Too bad that Barb was attacked by the blood-thirsty Demagorgon monster from the Upside Down and later found ripped to shreds with a slug parasite in her mouth.
Audiences quickly fell in love with Barb, the quite mousey-type, who no one else except Nancy seemed to care about. This launched the #JusticeForBarb campaign on social media, as fans of the new sci-fi horror series Stranger Things searched for answers.
Turns out, the cast has their own theories! In an interview with EW, Stranger Things stars Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, and Noah Schnapp shared their theories on what really happened to fan-favorite Barb:
“[Our characters] didn’t focus on looking for Barb because we didn’t really know her. She was just Mike’s sister’s friend. We didn’t really know her, we were looking for our best friend”
You can watch the rest of the video below:
“We’re hoping that Shannon makes an appearance in season 2, because we love Shannon. She’s great. Fingers crossed for Barb. The Duffers are saying maybe..#JusticeForBarb”
If what the cast is saying is true, and there was an active search party and funeral for Barb offscreen let’s hope season 2 gives us a few flashback scenes to honor her memory.
Hashtag Justice for Barb!
Stranger Things season 2 is currently filming and we’re hoping to get back to the sleepy town of Hawkins, Indiana, the secret government lab, and the creepy Upside Down sooner than later.
