Ever been on a cross-country flight when it was just impossible to get comfortable? Usually the issue is the head-rest, or that annoying passenger in the middle seat going to the bathroom every 5 minutes. However, one man on a nine-hour flight from Thailand to Australia had an entirely different reason for being miserably uncomfortable.

A 48-year-old Australian man swallowed 110 cocaine pellets, and then hopped on the plane for the long distance trek.

Shortly after arriving at the Sydney Airport in Australia, the man admitted to the police that he was smuggling 1.1 kilograms (2.4 pounds) of the drugs in his stomach, according to CNN.

The man, who resides in Thailand, managed to pass a baggage examination by the authorities but later revealed to the police that he had ingested a high number of packets filled with cocaine.

An Australian Federal Police spokeswoman stated that the details of the discussion between the man and the police have not yet been confirmed.

After being taken into custody, the man passed 46 pellets that contained around 1 pound of cocaine. Another 64 were removed from his stomach after the authorities took the man to the hospital.

The acting Commander of the Australian Border Force Organized Crime Branch, Lesley Dalton said in a statement, “Importing drugs internally is extremely dangerous as it can lead to serious health risks and even death.”

According to Dalton, the unusual incident exhibited the “dangerous” lengths to which criminals will go to smuggle drugs.

How do you think the police reacted when the man admitted to smuggling 110 cocaine pellets in his stomach?
