On Friday afternoon, one Saturday Night Live writer took to her personal Twitter account to make a joke about Barron Trump. Katie Rich received so much backlash from the tweet that she deleted the tweet, deactivated her account, and was indefinitely suspended from her gig writing on the sketch show.

The tweet in question read, “Barron will be the country’s first homeschool shooter.,” which could have been a joke about his demeanor, could have been a joke about his family, or a combination of all sorts of things. SNL hasn’t held their punches when it’s come to mocking Trump, even enlisting Alec Baldwin to come in regularly to impersonate him, but it seems as though they thought Rich had crossed a line.

Rich’s bosses at SNL weren’t the only ones who had passionate reactions to the tweet, as many other Twitter users voiced their concern on the social media platform. Rich has reactivated her account to issue an apology, but we doubt that the remorse will be enough to slow down the public outcry.

Do you think her tweet crossed a line or do you think a comedian is allowed to say whatever they want for the sake of comedy? Let us know in the comments!
