Times have been tough recently for Australian rapper Iggy Azalea. After a highly publicized falling out with her NBA player ex-fiancé Nick Young, the 26-year-old “Fancy” singer is now reportedly facing more tax issues.
Azalea owes $269,980 in federal taxes from 2015, according to TMZ. While this seems like a rather large sum, her team insists that the situation is not as serious as it sounds.

“It is nothing more than an internal accounting error that has already been taken care of,” a source close to the rapper told ShowBizSpy.
However, this is not the first time Azalea has run into trouble with Uncle Sam. Back in April, reports surfaced that she was slapped with a $391,056.55 lien for unpaid taxes from 2014, according to Yahoo. Azalea took to Twitter to diffuse the situation saying that it was a non-story as she had everything worked out with the government. “The IRS gave the option to pay them monthly or lump sum. i picked monthly, who wouldn’t,” she tweeted. “It’s like writing ‘iggy pays a mortgage on her house every month!’and trying to make it a story. It’s not a story. Lol.”
Azalea has not responded to the latest reports of her recent tax troubles, but it will be interesting to see if she downplays the situation like she did with the previous one. The rapper may insist that the incident was just “an internal accounting error,” but the fact that she owes more than $661,000 in unpaid taxes over the past two years is something that most people would likely take seriously.
What are your thoughts? Do you think this was just a simple “internal accounting error?”
