Next month, Harry Potter fans will be able to accio the second illustrated recreation of J.K. Rowling’s magical series. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: The Illustrated Edition will hit shelves on October 4, and Bloomsbury is celebrating the release today with a book trailer.
The gorgeous trailer features exclusive art by Jim Kay, the artist behind the illustrated Harry Potter publications. While short, the video animates previously seen pictures of Hagrid, mandrakes, and more. Towards the end of the video, fans can see a breathtaking animation of a phoenix who fans will remember from the original Harry Potter series. The illustration mixes shades of orange and red to create the fiery bird, leaving fans stupified like poor Neville Longbottom.

A quote from J.K. Rowling is also nestled in the trailer. “I love seeing Jim Kay’s interpretation of Harry Potter‘s world, and I feel honored and grateful that he continues to lend his talent to it,” she said, praising Jim for his whimsical artwork.
Of course, these images were first seen on Pottermore earlier this year. The site revealed the artwork and colored cover of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
“From a comprehensive da Vinci-esque study of Mandrakes, to an exquisitely detailed portrait of Rubeus Hagrid, we can now take a look at a few of the exclusive pages from his latest illustrated edition โ and we suspect you may enjoy them,” the site teased.
Last year, a similar reveal was held for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: The Illustrated Edition prior to its release. The book became bestseller shortly after its publication, and fans are anticipating the artist’s newest endeavor to see the same successful.
After all, hype for Harry Potter is at an all-time high this year after the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – and that’s not to even mention that Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will hit theaters this fall.
Currently, you can pre-order the second illustrated novel online at sites such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. If you’d like to check out a full synopsis of the book, then you can read it below:
“The Dursleys were so mean and hideous that summer that all Harry Potter wanted was to get back to the Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he’s packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.
And strike it does. For in Harry’s second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockhart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls’ bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley’s younger sister, Ginny.
But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone — or something — starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects…Harry Potter himself?”
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Illustrated Edition will be released on 4 October 2016. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them will reach theaters on November 18, 2016.
