Scott Eastwood will be changing lanes after filming Fast 8 with Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The 30-year-old actor who is set for a huge year with a handful of highly-anticipated projects in 2017, will now be taking on new sci-fi drama Ecstasia.
Eastwood will join Italian actress Matilda Lutz (The Rings) “in a world where love no longer exists during their final days together before their love expires,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The screenplay was penned by Wayne Kramer (The Cooler, Running Scared), who will also be directing the upcoming movie. Production is set to begin in South Africa in the spring of 2017. The producers on the film include Sentient Entertainment’s Renee Tab and Christopher Muffin alongside Matthew Chausse and Eastwood.
The film will be financed by Ingenious, Film Afrika and Red Sea Media. The project will be introduced at the forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival with Red Sea Media selling the international rights to buyers at the festival.
Eastwood most recently wrapped Fast 8, in which his character will attempt to fill in the void left when Paul Walker tragically died in a car crash during the filming of Fast 7. Also, he recently appeared in Suicide Squad as Lieutenant GQ Edwards, in Oliver Stone’s Snowden, and in Ben Affleck’s Live by Night. Eastwood portrayed a supporting role in the last three aforementioned movies, but he is now looking to transition into a Hollywood leading man with his role in Ecstasia.
