The Child’s Play franchise has been running since 1988, and in 2017 it will offer horror fans its seventh installment, Cult of Chucky.

According toย EW,ย Cult of Chuckyย will start shooting on January 9th, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.ย
Don Mancini will direct; Mancini has written for every installment in the franchise and also directed the last two films,ย Seedย of Chuckyย (2004) andย Curse of Chuckyย (2013).ย
No release date has been set, but word is thatย Cult of Chuckyย will be released – Unrated – on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD in time for Halloween 2017.

Cast
The big eye-raising detail ofย Cult of Chuckyย is that it will bring back a lot of cast members from past installments of the franchise. As always, Brad Dourif will voice Chucky, but other returning cast members will include:ย

- Jennifer Tilly (Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky)

Story
Cult of Chucky‘s story will reportedly pick up with Nica (Fiona Dourif) in an insane asylum, convinced that she is responsible for her family’s murder inย Curse of Chucky, not a possessed doll.ย
However, when Nica’s psychiatrist tries to bring in a “Good Guy” doll to push her therapy, unexplained murders begin to occur around the asylum. As Nica begins to realize she’s not crazy, she joins forces with Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent), who must battle Chucky’s brideย Tiffany on the outside, while Nica presumably faces Chucky (and other maniacs?) within the Asylum walls.ย
Cult of Chuckyย will be released in time for Halloween 2017.ย
