A Chicago couple was in for a scary shock when they reviewed their home security footage this week, WLS-TV reports.
When Jordan Buranskas realized that her purse was missing on Monday, her boyfriend Jack Mackercher reviewed the security footage from his home from the previous evening in an effort to see if she had walked in the door with it.

“We actually got into a little bit of an argument about it. He thought I left it at the restaurant the night before,” Buranskas said.
Instead of spotting Buranskas’ missing purse, the couple saw something far more terrifying as they reached footage from around 3:30 a.m.- a stranger had crept into their house and stood on their stairs, watching as they slept on the couch below.
“I’m like, ‘Why are you at the top of the stairs wearing a white hoodie before we went to bed?’ She’s like, ‘I wasn’t at the top of the stairs.’ So that’s when you go flush and start to freak out a little bit,” Mackercher said.
The couple believes the intruder entered the home through an unlocked sliding door, walking so quietly he didn’t even wake the couple’s two dogs.
“He stood there for about 5 minutes the first time then walked away, then came back and hovered over us again for another 5 minutes,” Buranskas said.
In the beginning of the footage, the man can be seen attempting to enter homes near Mackercher’s, so the couple has warned their neighbors to be on the lookout, as the thief has been linked to other burglaries in the area. Detectives are also on the case, WGN reports.
“If you want to come out here and steal, you’re going to be on video,” Mackercher said.
